Who made up these rules?!
Growing up lots of us were slammed with so many Do’s and Donts. Everything instilled in us at a young age becomes part of our development process and can be the reason why we act the way we do later on in life.
“Don’t talk back to adults!”
“Don’t stand on that curb!”
“Do what I say and not what I do!”
I may have not said it when I was younger but my adult answer is always “Whyyyyyyy, Yo?!”
In real life (and fake) folks have severe issues. People are a reflection of what they’re around and people act how they are trained unless of course they see a cycle of bullshit that needs to be broken.
Children should be allowed to talk back to adults and not get ridiculed for doing so unless their words, tone and delivery are distasteful. That girl you know that never speaks up might be that way because her entire life she was told not to talk back. Now if she isn’t speaking up and asking questions how will she get that owed money, that dream job or that clarity on how to be better?
Let me stand on the edge. Who decided those curbs were too high to let us try and jump off? If we fall, we fall but it is up to us and the folks around us (who actually care) to help lift us back up. So yeah, that person who never gets the opportunity to jump never gets the chance to see if they can weather the storm and may never take that leap of faith.
• Don’t waste your precious time trying to make someone get it.
• Don’t doubt yourself and think you aren’t good enough
• Do believe your hype and feel yourself without needing an X Pill!
• Do find, care for and love yourself.
• Do speak up when things aren’t sitting well with you.
• Do Fuck with yourself to the best of your ability.
